Miles Redd collection for Schumacher features color, modernity

Tumbling Blocks fabric and wallpaper design from the Miles Redd collection for Schumacher

“I strive to create spaces that are animated and lively—and party-ready—because isn’t that what life should be?” says Miles Redd, one of the newest designers to collaborate on a line with Schumacher.

Born in Atlanta, Miles began his design career after graduating from New York University and honing his skills with luminary antiques dealer John Rosselli and decorator Bunny Williams. In 1998, he opened his own design firm in New York City. Best known for an eye-catching color sensibility, his trademark brand is characterized by playful mélanges of high and low, invigorated with whimsy, scale and modernity. Schumacher notes that Miles is incredibly creative but also has an uncommon knowledge of the decorating world, and his work is rooted in classicism yet expands far beyond that.

Miles was the creative director of Oscar de la Renta Home from 2003 to 2013. Miles’s “The Big Book of Chic” (2012) gives a glimpse into the inspiration that fuels his design, and focuses on the pleasures of living life in a beautiful way. Miles was honored as one of Architectural Digest’s “AD 100″ in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 as well as being recognized as the recipient of Housing Work’s Groundbreaker Award in 2014. This Tumbling Blocks pattern of fabric and wallpaper, above, is one of the many designs Miles has created for Schumacher.
