Sunbrella fabrics add style indoors & out

Samples of Sunbrella fabrics in Panoply’s design library

Now that winter finally seems as if it’s about to be behind us, many people are thinking about spring gardening and outdoor entertaining. One fabric line long associated with outdoor use, Sunbrella, is now just as likely to be found indoors as out, making it a wise choice for the living room as well as the patio, deck and sunroom.

Sunbrella started as a maker of awning fabric in 1961, with its fabric made of acrylic fibers with pigmentation added prior to extrusion, offering the rich look and feel of cotton but without the drawback of fading or degrading like cotton. The fabric quickly developed a following, and today Sunbrella fabrics are popular because of their attractive designs as well as their durability against the elements.

Those early awning fabrics may have been limited in style, but today Sunbrella fabrics come in a wide array of designs and colors.
